AWS re:Invent 2016 keynote was given by Werner Vogels. It’s a worthwhile watch and gives some interesting CTO insights to AWS.
The first 10 Minutes are quite interesting to understand why AWS is positioning itself as the first customer-centric IT company (which I would agree). It outlines their positioning and describes what’s in the DNA about serving their customers.
Later in the speech Werner Vogels introduces the Twelve Factor App Methodology ( refer to my article), as well as the enhanced AWS Architecture Framework ( refer to my article).
He will drill down into the newly introduced AWS Architecture Framework topic of Operational Excellence and how they can support this framework pillar with their tooling and services.
Security plays a role in the presentation. Vogels covers the “Security by Design Concept”, as well as provides an overview and statistics about DDoS Attacks and how to protect against them.
Very helpful as well is the drill down in their Data Architecture primitives and how to glue them all together with Amazon Glue.
